Revitalising buildings for a digital future
The challenge
In support of a desire for fundamental redefining of the cultural and physical shape of their business, Aviva Plc identified the potential to relocate into the South Shoreditch Conservation Area, bringing a substantial new workforce, level of investment and creativity and engaging with the vibrant local community.
The approach
The refurbishment of 27 Hoxton Square is constrained by the existing building envelope, a small scale pleasant corner building on the top edge of Hoxton Square.
The design approach has been to retain as much as possible of the existing building and character, whilst refurbishing and enhancing its environmental and energy efficiencies.
The result
The new building provides office space for 4 small teams, with their own tea point, huddle space, and meeting room facilities.
The property has an independent entrace, but it is also connected to the Ryley Factory through a new opening directly to the main campus reception and cafe’.
