A stand-out data centre project, with recognition to match

The Challenge

TTSP was tasked with a substantial phase1 fit-out of an existing warehouse building to create a new data centre for Barclays Bank, all whilst maintaining ‘business as usual’.

The Approach

As a practice with over 25 years’ experience in this specialist sector, TTSP deployed its knowledge to approach both the immediate challenge and future challenges. This required a highly coordinated expansion solution that permitted construction in a ‘live’ environment.

Creating two data halls with a net internal area of 3,020m² at first floor level, plus associated ancillary accommodation. Forward planning included an allowance for three additional halls and associated colour coded plant rooms to align with power steam diversity.

A new enclosed external gantry was constructed at the rear of the building to accommodate chiller plant, screened by an 8m high green wall.

The Result

Accolades and awards including BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, the Data Centre Dynamics ‘Mega Data Centre of the Year’ award in 2010, and one of the first Data Centres outside of the USA to achieve LEED ‘Platinum’ status.
