An exhilarating civic presence for councillors and community

The challenge

When Suffolk County Council adopted TTSP designed Endeavour House as the location for its new County Hall, the public sector body called upon the practice to create a space that would bring together, for the first time, staff from 1,000 different departments.

The approach

The founding base building concepts of flexibility, connectivity and collaboration were driven by TTSP’s understanding of business functionality and the importance of place. We understand 3-dimensional space, how people work and know how to make physical space work harder, become more flexible and support increasingly diverse and demanding needs.

This brief enabled us to work collaboratively and harness our collective skills to craft a unique space and place, publicly recognisable and highly functional.

The result

Over a net internal area of 11,000m², the enhanced building incorporates best practice and sustainability initiatives, including an integrated photovoltaic energy façade. The space includes an impressive glass structure with spacious light-filled concourse that doubles as an art gallery and a debating chamber for councillors. It is a community space for all.
